Aesthetically disturbing veins or veins that will evolve into larger varicose veins can be treated with injections at the consultation. This treatment can therefore be both medical and purely aesthetic. With a fine needle, a product is injected that irritates the inner wall of the veins. By taping it with cotton wool and wearing support stocking, the walls will stick together, so that the treated veins become invisible.
This technique, which has proved quite worthwhile in the past, is now somewhat neglected due to the important evolution in laser therapy, where blood vessels from less than 1 mm to about 1 cm in diameter can now simply be lasered, with no bruising, clearly less risk of pigmentation, and no need to wear compression stockings for days on end.
